Well, not that people really read my journal, but I wanted to try out the poll feature so.
The ideas list is here.

Which idea should I draw for my RSOM contest entry?
Uh, I'd link to this on the sidebar but I'm a bit too lazy to go in and edit the code for each style set. I'll just put it on the "recent entries" page.

Oh yeah, shit.
School starts on the 22nd. That's like, next week. :(
Lame.
I can't wait to see the people from Binks, though. Seema's going to be at Suncoast, though she apparently turned goth.
Uh, and Candace says I should do idea one. :D I'LL MAKE A POLL KAY.

...is hard. Wow.
Well, I've narrowed my choices of genre down to comedy, romance, and drama. I'd like to make a fantasy or a sci-fi story, but both require too many details to draw and an in-depth story, which I am too lazy to create. :D Well, I guess sci-fi is still a possibility... I'd actually like to do a steampunk manga, haha. But yeah, I don't like drawing complicated machinery or overly detailed backgrounds. Horror sounds tempting, but I'd likely do one with zombies and a) I don't like drawing gore & b) there can't be an excessive amount of gore/disembowelment/violence in the entries. So lol, zombies are out.
First idea: a romance manga based on the idea of shared dreaming. Yeah, I'm using this as a plot point in my fanfic too, but there's nothing saying that I can't reuse storylines that I've made before. BD
Basically, the main girl in the story is bedridden with a disease. I was thinking leukemia, though I could look into some neuropathological diseases --- SCD would be a lame ripoff of 1 Litre of Tears though, and ALS is lame too. (no offense to the people with those diseases) The guy in the story is her childhood friend, and is currently studying medicine in the US to try and find a better treatment for her disease (Acute myeloid leukemia is a potentially curable disease; but only a minority of patients are cured with current therapy.)
Uhhh... Well, basically, it's hard for them to get in touch by the phone or other things, but they can see each other in their dreams? And the girl dies at the end, while the boy has become a doctor --- the last scene is probably going to be a shot of them together from one of their dreams or something. Yeah, short and sad, but I'm starting to really get into these kinds of stories after watching 1 Litre of Tears and Crying Out Love in the Center of the World (still have to watch Taiyou no Uta).
Second idea: a comedy manga reusing my characters from my NaNo novel! Yeah, my poor cast of muses have been completely neglected. They're really festive, so they should be fun to design outfits for and draw. I guess this'll just be a slice of life manga, or I'll have it focus on one part of their road trip to New York --- geez, I don't even remember WHY they're going to New York again augh. So I guess I'll have to redo the story if I decide to draw this one. The only thing that's definite is that Gabe (the faggot that beat me up to make him a major character in the story, he was originally going to be a very minor character) wants to kill the main character, name forgotten, so that the contract between her and Productivity (his love interest) will be broken. Yeah, what an ass. The girl's a ten/twelve year old kid, too.
But yeah, this one would be fun simply because of the characters' relationships with each other. :D And the girl's stuck in the middle of this going "WHYYYYYYyyy".
Third idea: a drama (??) manga based on one of my novel ideas, nine red planes, which is set in a dystopic alternate universe where the countries have allied together to form three large nations which are constantly at war against one another. This is in a post-WWII time setting, probably early-mid 1950's, so I'll have to do research about the different clothing and machinery that was around back then. I don't think this one will be made because I doubt I can fit the entire story into 15-20 pages, and I don't want it to cut off abruptly without a resolved ending. The story doesn't cut into small chunks like idea two and four, and it's definitely not a short story that can be finished in a small amount of pages like idea one.
Fourth idea: a fantasy/comedy manga that I dreamt up one or two characters and a location for a while back and then ditched. |D;; I don't even have a basic story idea for this, so I doubt I'll choose this one. Anyway, it's about a traveling minstrel and his party of... people that follow him around as he solves situations in different cities around the world? I'll need a plot under all of this as well, because he has no real reason to travel --- what is he looking for? What's his purpose for traveling? I haven't figured this out at all. However, this -could- work for my entry because I could just make a short story about the guy's stay at one of the cities and add in a short conflict.
Well, the contest ends on January 11, 2008. I've lost around two months since the contest started on June 15, but I'm dan sure I can make it if I work. Right now, though, I need to figure out how exactly I'm going to do the toning. The lettering I could definitely do on the computer, and I have manga and comic book fonts especially for this. I don't know if I can find a good toning program that I can use though, since doing toning on Photoshop is just ajdofida. I will also need to pick up some new inking pens, probably microns or some nibs. Nibs are fun to work with, but augh if they drip. Microns don't make a mess, though the lines they make are kind of mechanical compared to nibs.
Contemplation, contemplation... Ah, maybe I can get my hands on a copy of Manga Studio to do tones~
I'm happy that I'll have something to keep me company during school in the months leading up to NaNo and after it. |D November's going to be full of writing, and the rest I'll dedicate to cranking out manga panels~
(I would be able to bring Microns to school, actually. More contemplation! D:)

...Wow. :D I just checked my details for fun and I have been a member of DJ for a year and... four months, and I have posted 569 entries during that time. Teehee, 69.
Oh jeez I missed this song for the day I was gone. I couldn't get it onto my MP3 player yesterday morning and I was all "WHYYYYYyyy."
(no, this is not just an excuse for me to use my mood theme as much as I can :()
(though I should make it my goal to post something that I can use the mood "horny" for, rofl)
(JUST BECAUSE IT DOESN'T SEE ENOUGH USAGE IN BLOGS)
(...and because I used the sexyface for that and auuughhhh D:)

I am back from Orlando! /o/ Annnd I have a lot of things to write about. Not to mention the fact that I need to update my TCG post and do a bunch of stuff. Oh well, I can do that later. :D
Anyway, we left for Orlando early Saturday morning and the car trip was pretty routine. I got through around half of The Butterfly Effect because my brother took the DVD player for around the entire first half of the car trip and part of the second half.
We got to Epcot around 10:00, and went into the Project Tomorrow exhibit thing first. Uh... yeah. I was second in line for the car... simulator... thing, and I still had to wait around 15 minutes because the two kids that were playing kept starting the game over. I bet their parents noticed that there was a decently long line forming behind them too, and they still didn't say a thing. Well, I finally got to play, and then we went to the Lotus Blossom Cafe (or whatever it was called) in China for lunch. I actually wanted to get food at the Nine Dragons Restaurant, but my mom said that the food in both places were the same. Yeah, it wasn't. D: All we got at the cafe was fried rice and a bowl of soup with noodles. There wasn't any plain rice or side dishes.
The cashiers were kind of annoying too. Well, they were pretty cool when we were ordering but when you're sitting at a table at the side, you can hear them yelling at the people outside. "Welcome to China! Somethingsomething!" And that goes on every few minutes for the next half hour while you're eating. Yeah.
Well, we (I) rushed our way to Japan after that, with a stop at the USA since we got there right as one of the shows was starting. I took a quick walk around the gift store there, then we continued through the World Showcase and back to the entrance. We rid on all of the rides except for Test Track and Soarin', because the wait for Soarin' was 95 minutes and the fastpasses were all out.
We ate dinner at the place in Mexico since the Nine Dragons Restaurant was packed when we got there at night. It was around 8:15 by then, so we made another stop at Mitsukoshi (is that what it's called?) before going outside to see the Illuminations thing. I bought myself a cute Chii UFO plush for $15, though I was extremely disappointed that there were no bento boxes nor any Ouran merchandise. D: I didn't see the FFX Play Arts figures that I heard about as well. Well, we sat just outside of Morocco to see the fireworks, and the thing on my mind as I was watching the show was: "Wow, Americans sure love fire and blowing shit up." (no offense)
And cue the motivational music as we were making our way out of the park. /o/ I think we spent around 20 minutes walking around in the parking lot looking for our car. We finally found it, but then we spent another hour or so just looking for the hotel we were staying at. I got to finish The Butterfly Effect and start Fast Food Nation on the way to the hotel~
Oh yeah, my mom almost ran my foot over with the car while I was trying to get stuff out of the back seat. :D I was leaning in and piling things up for me to take, and the car suddenly starts moving and takes me along with it. My foot wasn't hurt at all though, so that was good. Haha. Well, there were no good shows on TV or anything, so I went to sleep early. Then this morning we went downstairs to get some breakfast before leaving.
The food wasn't all that bad, though it was kind of tasteless. The coffee was good, though. What irked me was that the people sitting behind us were talking about the other people in the breakfast area having no manners, and they were speaking loud enough for the people around them to hear. Uh, now, normally when you complain about other people, you're supposed to do it quietly so they can't hear you? Oh well. I do scoff at my family's table manners though. :D;
We went to this hyooooge oriental supermarket after we left. It was pretty much the size of a Publix down here. I think I spent the entire visit just gaping at the aisles of food (while snerking at the Engrish on the bowls I found). I got some awesome green tea ice cream --- it ended up half-melted, though I think it's fine now that I stuck it in the freezer. I also bought around three boxes of pocky and some noodles and things that I couldn't find in the market around here. The store was so big!! /o/ I'd be so happy if there was a huge oriental market around here like that.
On the way back, I mostly read World War Z and watched Fast Food Nation. And now I'm here. Yay! Oh yeah, and I'm also going on a cruise next week. I'm not sure if it'll be on Saturday or Sunday though, so I'll have to see about that.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I drew a huge Kyouya on the bathroom mirror after it got all fogged up. I couldn't stop laughing. D: And then I remembered that the camera's batteries were dead after I drew it. Sad.
UHH, WHAT ELSE. I don't think anything else of notable importance happened. Now I need to get to work trying to think of a story for the Rising Stars of Manga contest. |D; $1000, come to meee~
